Programs & Services:
Safe, Disciplined, Civil Learning Environment: We are an inclusive school that welcomes students of any race, religion, national origin, social class, sexual orientation, language background, exceptionality and ability. Our school culture welcomes each student and family. Our students learn to care for others.
Technology-enriched Teaching & Learning: Students and teachers use technology, the Internet, programs and software for instruction and production. Through innovative, technology-enriched study, students research and produce projects, they edit digital sound and images, create animations, design products, create websites, and write code for programs and games.
Design-Learning: Students take a Design studio class each day, all four years of high school. Our comprehensive Design-Learning approach develops skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. These are important skills everyone will need to be successful in the global economy of the 21st century.
STEMD™ Curriculum: Design-Lab Courses include science, technology, engineering, media and design (STEMD™). Students develop 21st century skills that we call digital, visual and media literacies. They also build literacy in reading, writing and math. We expect 100% of our students to use multiple literacies to graduate from high school and gain admission to college and exciting careers.
Project-based Service Learning: Students learn how to make a difference by identifying, studying, and solve problems facing their city and the world. Students design their own projects to apply, in-depth, the content they learn, while serving their community.
Transportation: At no cost to families, we provide school bus transportation for every student, everyday, and also cover the cost of buses for field trips and after school activities.
Nutrition: We support healthy mind and body by participating in healthy food choice programs. At low or no cost to most families we participate in the National School Breakfast/Lunch Program, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program, which offers fresh produce to students, everyday.
Student Support Services: Qualified teachers offer special educational services to all students who have an Individual Education Plan, a 504 Plan, and English Language Learners. A full-time school Nurse and Guidance Counselor support the students’ health and well-being. All four years of high school, each student has his or her own faculty or staff mentor to check-in with, everyday.
